"We hired Mermaid Catering for our 10 year class reunion and were very pleased with our decision. From the start, Julie was flexible and responsive. She worked with our limited budget and designed a diverse menu that gave the appearance of a much more expensive spread. The food was delicious and people raved about it. Every detail was included down to sauces for each item, mini silverware, etc. The chalkboard tray was impressive, especially since our entire spread was disposable. Actually, the presentation overall was amazing. I would definitely recommend Julie and her team to anyone looking for a quality meal for 10 or 500!"

She was quick to provide a quote within our budget for 100 people and extremely flexible with our requests. Once we agreed upon a menu she communicated expectations in a professional manner. Now, onto the food. It was AMAZING! We ordered a charcuterie board, mini cheeseburger skewers, beer pretzel dip and a crab dip. My customers could not stop raving about the quality, flavor and presentation of the spread!"

"Mermaid catering did an excellent job. Julie was very helpful with planning and assisting me with setting up the party in my home. The food was fantastic! The entree choices Julie recommended were a perfect fit for my family and friends. Everyone commented on how fresh and delicious the dinner was. The Mermaid Salad was a favorite. Many guests went back for second helpings and there was still plenty of food leftover. The entertainer Julie hired for the children at the party was also excellent. "Mermaid catering worked with me to create the perfect buffet style reception for my bonus daughter's senior recital at a university. They were flexible enough to work within the time constraints of a public space, and put out a beautifully presented buffet with delicious small snacks and desserts. Those who attended the recital reception were heard commenting on how beautiful everything looked and praising the tastiness of the foods, even wishing other receptions were like this one. The pricing was very competitive to similar providers - having seen the finished product, I would not hesitate to pay slightly more for what I have seen as a clearly superior service. The attendants were well-dressed and professional, the entire buffet was set up and cleaned up with thorough attention to detail. Our event was for 80 people - they made it look easy and it was gorgeous. The menu items were fresh, well-presented and included seasonal items. The owner, Julie was a pleasure to deal with and was quick, concise and professional in her communications with me as I planned this event from out of state. Julie made the process stress-free and exceeded my expectations with her products and service. I would highly recommend Mermaid Catering without reservation."

"My husband and I decided to get married rather quickly and only had 13 days to pull together all the details. Julie at Mermaid Catering was one of the first caterers to respond to my request for a quote. After exchanging a few messages via the Thumbtack site, Julie had a good idea of the type of food items we wanted and was very prompt in responding with a great menu and great price quote. We worked with Julie to secure a bartender. We supplied all the alcohol and Mermaid Catering supplied all the mixers, plates, plastic glasses, etc. The food was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. Julie was fun and easy to work with, she was prompt getting back to me and arrived at our wedding with ample time to set up. Julie, you did a GREAT job, the food was delicious and the presentation beautiful. Thank you for working with me under such time restraints. We received many compliments on the food and presentation. "The 757 Rock Ball & Benefit Gala would like to thank Julie & Mermaid Catering for being an amazing partner. First year events are difficult w/ tight budgets & unpredictable issues or results. The Historic Granby Theater was a new event venue for as well. From the start to finish, Julie made it easy. She created a realistic budget menu that allowed for easy finger food eating (active musicians running around socializing, dancing, performing, many stairs & few tables on the main floors). Downtown Norfolk is not the easiest when parking much less loading in food & equipment for hundreds, but they did it like the pro's they are The food was DELICIOUS, creative twists & upscale flavors that we've heard nothing but rave reviews on. These events are stressful all the way around, Julie was a godsend, little to no worries at all...she was thoroughly planned out, effortlessly changed gears when the original buffet area was moved last minute, kept everything flowing w/perfect no fuss flow. The 757 Rock Ball had a focus to partner w/as many small local businesses possible. Mermaid Catering was wonderful in every way,even continuing well after to raise awareness for our chosen charity & many others. Our immense thanks & gratitude goes out to Julie & her crew ! T.P.P. "My husband and I were renewing our vows and had about 35 people coming, not large for a caterer I know. I never felt like we were too small or not an important order. She worked with me to customize our menu, my husband is a bit picky. The food was early, DESPITE Hurricane Matthew deciding to be a guest at our renewal, and I didn't even notice her setting up in the chaos of moving everything in doors. The food was delicious! Several of our guests commented on the food and there were NO left overs."
